My post title works in two ways.
First off, I know others are complaining about the rain and wishing for more summer-like weather. Not me! It's been nice to have cooler temperatures during these last few weeks.
Secondly, had two amazing showers thrown for me this weekend. On Friday, my work had a shower for me after we closed the library. M work has been so accomadating. This last week was my last full week. I'll be working as I wish up until the birth, but at most two days a week. I'm so grateful to my co-workers for being so kind, and I am extremely thankful for how well things have worked out with insurance and taking my leave. On Saturday, my Mom and my sister threw a shower for me. They worked so hard on it. They've been amazingly supportive my whole pregnancy. It was so nice to see so many of my family and friends.
Now that the two straight weekends of childbirth classes and showers are over, I can finally get the baby's room together, as well as everything else I need to do such as finishing up my birth plan, installing the car seat, packing for the hospital, and maybe even finally deciding on a name! especially since my midwife says there is a chance (not sharing the reasoning behind it-TMI) I could have him in June, which would be a week early. I'm trying to not get too excited, because I could of course still go past my due date, but it would be nice to have him a little early.

Random baby post
1- We took our childbirth prep class this weekend. There was some good info, and I loved the massage stuff. At the same time, however, I somewhat agree with a quote the teacher actually had one of us read out loud that said something to the effect of how silly it is we read all these books and do all these things (which would technically include her class) to prepare for natural childbirth. It actually makes sense. I've read tons of books, gone to the class, watched a video, discussed it all with my midwife, but when it comes down to it...hopefully my body just knows what to do and what it and the baby needs. Women have been giving birth forever, so I realize I just need to trust in my body and my female strength.
2- The baby's room got painted today! It needs a little touch-up apparently, but tomorrow or Tuesday we can start moving stuff in and getting it ready. Woohoo!
3- I had a stranger (one of my sister's coworkers) touch my belly for the first time. Just as awkward as everyone warned me! Hopefully it doesn't happen again before I have the baby...only a month left!

Baby Names

This is a board at my work where people have been suggesting baby names since we found out he is a boy. There are some on there that I really like and am considering(not):
Archibald(Archie, Arch) Bishop
Rich Bishop
Knight Takes Bishop
Eastern Orthodox Bishop
The Bishop
In all seriousness, there are some that I like. However, Adam and I don't agree on a lot of names. I've known this since before I was even pregnant when we would just mention names. He vetoes a lot of my names. However, we do have a name that we keep coming back to that we both like- Bennett. It's not set in stone or anything yet, but I would be surprised if we decided on something else.

Baby Boy Bishop
I am totally eating my words tonight, because we ended up at one of those ultrasound places today. It's not all my fault, though. :) I wanted to go down to Provo to a rice pudding place I like down there, then to the mall to go to Motherhood Maternity. My mom and Nicki ended up coming with us. Nicki started working her magic and telling Adam that her and my Mom would help pay for it. She kept talking about it, about how we were already at the mall so after we found out we could buy some outfits. She eventually talked him into it.
It took the girl awhile, but she got the "money shot" after her and Adam both shook my belly around a little bit. He apparently didn't like it, because at the end he started kicking back! We are so excited!!! Truth be told, I've always wanted a boy for my first child.

Boy or Girl?

I've been pretty patient about finding out the gender, but that changed this week. I get an e-mail every week as I enter a new week of pregnancy that says what's growing and just basically what is going with the pregnancy. Well, I got my 15 week e-mail on Monday. It said that the gender is usually visible in ultrasounds now.
After reading that, I almost felt tempted to go to one o\f those Fetal Photos places. We really shouldn't spend the money though, and my ultrasound is only 3 weeks away. However, just since Monday, I have had SO many people ask me if I know whether the baby is a boy or girl yet. It's starting to drive me nuts! February 5th cannot come soon enough. :)
Not many people read my blog, but just for fun I thought I would put a poll up on the side. I can't wait until I can know for sure though!

7/6/2009
About a month ago (October 29th to be exact), my life changed forever. Adam and I found out that we are expecting our first baby. I kept meaning to take pictures and write about it, but never did. All my energy seems to be gone... I used to question (in my mind) the women who talked about symptoms like being tired or sick before they were even showing. Well, now I know better! I finally decided to sit down and write this because we had our first appointment and ultrasound today. I am most likely 8 weeks and 2 days along, which gives me a due date of July 6th, 2009. We got to hear the heartbeat, which was amazing. Finally gives me something to think about when I am sick and wondering if this is all worth it. Adam especially loved hearing the heartbeat. I think it made it more real for him... well, for both of us really.

-This picture is from the Halloween party we hosted for my family on the 30th. We told everyone there by creating a Halloween wordsearch that just happened to include the words Baby Bishop. We told most of Adam's family that night too or the next day. We had wanted to come up with another creative idea, but we were just too excited and wanted to keep telling people. We called his parents, his sister, and then his grandparents. We couldn't get a hold of his brother John who lives in CA until the next day, but the way Adam told him was pretty great. Adam and his siblings have an uncle named John, so when he called his brother John, he told him there was now two uncle Johns. His brother didn't get it at first that he was now the second uncle John, but he did after Adam said "You are" in response to John wondering who the second uncle John was.

Until tonight, I had no idea Adam took this picture. I remember the day well though. I got home from school and work with plenty of homework to do. Adam was doing his homework on the computer, and wanted me to stay downstairs too since we had been apart all day. Normally I can do homework on the lovesac or bed just fine, but not since I got pregnant. I'm just so tired I end up falling asleep, which is exactly what happened in this picture.

This is me today- just over 2 months pregnant!

And here is the tiny, blurry, lima bean-shaped image that knocked our socks off today! Due to measuring the baby from crown to rump, they put me at 8wks2days, and the baby's heartbeat was 151. I just googled baby heart rate gender, and apparently the old wive's tale is that if the heart rate is over 140, it's a girl. On the other hand, the Chinese gender chart that looks at the woman's age at conception and the month coneption took place, says I am having a boy. Adam is sure excited to know though... even more so than me. Well, tiredness is coming on again, so this is it for now.
