Mass Media

As anyone who knows me or reads this even semi-regularly would know, I am somewhat obsessed with media. Maybe I should be ashamed of that, but I'm really not. I love tv shows and movies, but I love books even more. Maybe that's how I redeem myself.
Anyways, I have come across some good stuff since my trip that I wanted to share.

Books
My list basically consists of teen fiction. It is so good sometimes though! The first one is called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Apparently, one of the reasons it is gaining in popularity is because Stephenie Meyers recommended it on her blog. Well, as much as I enjoyed Twilight, this book is so much better! I love teen fiction that is smart and subversive. That reminds me of another great YF book I read earlier this year called Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. Anyways, my last "new" find is actually an old classic that I had never read. I am finally reading the A Wrinkle in Time series by Madeleine L'Engle. I am on the third book, and I really enjoy the series so far.

Movies
I've seen two movies this week, both of which I really enjoyed. The first was I Love You, Man. It was pretty funny. The second was Monsters vs. Aliens in 3-D, which was awesome! Even though it is old, I love the 3-D technology. And I love kids movies that are smart enough for adults to enjoy as well. Plus, this movie had some of my favorite actors as voices...Will Arnett, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Keifer Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon. And in an amazing casting, Stephen Colbert voices the President of the U.S.A. Hilarious!

I always love seeing what you're reading or have read. I'll have to check out some of your recommendations. But I must say I'm so surprised you haven't read Madeleine L'Engle before. She was my favorite favorite favorite writer for years and years, starting in elementary and going through part of college.
